Public engagement in research is not only limited to patients, children and parents. Clinicians who work with their patients are also an important sector which public engagement is trying to reach. As part of a paediatric showcase in the Evelina Children's Hospital, London, I was able to introduce my own research which investigates the connectivity within the developing brain. I used a poster presentation to communicate the topic to the target audience of clinicians and parents of patients being treated at the Children’s Hospital. As the process was discussion-based, I was able to interact and actively teach abstract ideas to non-scientists. Moreover, it was possible for me to answer questions regarding usefulness and applicability of the overall research process, which sparked further interest in the participants and allowed me to engage more with those interested beyond the scope of the paediatric showcase.
